One Year of Transformational Leadership: Dean Prof. Armaghan Israr Mirza Leads FJIDS to Remarkable Growth and Academic Excellence

Prof. Armaghan Israr Mirza has successfully completed one year as Dean of the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences (FJIDS), Lahore, marking a year of significant progress and institutional transformation. During this period, the institute achieved major milestones across academic, clinical, and administrative domains.

The institute’s clinical capacity, which was previously limited to one and a half floors of Block C, has expanded to more than 70 fully functional dental units. As a result, the average daily patient attendance has increased from approximately 275 to nearly 800 patients. During the same period, the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), HVAC system, and state-of-the-art Skill Labs were successfully established and made fully operational.

FJIDS also secured recognition for its postgraduate programs, launched its undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program, recruited new academic and administrative staff, attained autonomous status, established the Department of Medical Education, and successfully conducted the University of Health Sciences (UHS) examinations for all dental institutes in Lahore. The recruitment of highly qualified faculty in both basic and clinical sciences further strengthened the institute’s academic foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Armaghan I. Mirza said, “The achievements of the past year are the result of the collective dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of our faculty, clinicians, nursing and paramedical staff, administrators, and every member of the institute. Our vision is to establish the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences among Pakistan’s leading centers for dental education, research, and patient care. We have laid a strong foundation and remain committed to accelerating our efforts toward academic excellence, innovation, quality healthcare, and institutional development.”

The faculty and staff congratulated Prof. Armaghan I. Mirza on completing a successful first year as Dean and expressed confidence that, under his leadership, the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences will continue to achieve new milestones in dental education, research, and patient care.
