An Eid festival was held at the iconic Trafalgar Square in London under the patronage of the Mayor of London.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan was unable to attend this year’s event due to his Hajj pilgrimage. He was represented at the festival by Deputy Mayor Dr. Debbie Bernard.

Speaking to Jang, Dr. Bernard said such events highlight the valuable contributions of diverse communities in London and also provide them a platform to showcase their talents.

She added that at a time when divisive politics is on the rise, such festivals play an important role in bringing people together.

Dr. Bernard also noted that the Muslim community continues to face Islamophobia, and it is essential for communities to stand united in such circumstances.

Visitors attending the festival said they thoroughly enjoyed the annual celebration, which brings together not only Pakistanis and other Muslim communities but also people from different backgrounds living in London.

Some participants described the event as a commendable initiative by the Mayor of London, highlighting that Trafalgar Square regularly hosts cultural events representing various faiths and communities.

The festival featured a wide range of food stalls for visitors, along with activities for children. Throughout the day, artists performed live on stage, adding to the festive atmosphere.
