If you visited any ancient-style towns or cultural parks during the International Workers’ Day break, you may have witnessed one of China’s most breathtaking intangible heritage performances: the “iron flower” show.
This spectacular tradition reflects how the country is bringing cultural relics and heritage back to life. Artisans hurl molten iron, heated to 1,600 degrees Celsius, high into the air, where it bursts into dazzling showers of sparks, lighting up the night sky like natural fireworks.
