Defamation Case: Court Imposes Rs5 Million Fine on Meesha Shafi
A Lahore court has ruled in favor of renowned Pakistani singer Ali Zafar in a long-running defamation case, imposing a fine of Rs5 million on Meesha Shafi.
The verdict was announced by an Additional Sessions Judge after nearly eight years of legal proceedings on a Rs1 billion defamation suit filed by Ali Zafar against Meesha Shafi.
During the course of the trial, a total of nine judges presided over the case. Testimonies of 20 witnesses were recorded across 283 hearings.
Additional Sessions Judge Asif Hayat delivered the final judgment, rejecting the allegations made by Meesha Shafi against Ali Zafar and decreeing the defamation claim in favor of the singer.
The court ordered Meesha Shafi to pay a fine of Rs5 million as part of the ruling.
