Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor BNBWU, the Centre for Women Empowerment, Research & Trainings (CWERT) successfully organized another intellectually enriching Research Article Discussion Session under the Research Club initiative.
The session featured a well-articulated presentation by students of the Department of Linguistics and Social Sciences (BS Islamic Studies Program). The students demonstrated commendable confidence, clarity, and analytical depth, reflecting the steadily strengthening research culture at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur.
The students presented a research article titled “Analyzing Hijab Trends as Cultural Identity, Fashion, and Socio-Political Transformation in Pakistan” by Dr. Amber Ghani and Ms. Sadaf Raees. The presentation was delivered by Aisha Memon, Bisma, Noor, Hafiza Fatima, Iqra, Alishba, and Kashaf Fatima.
The study explored the evolving role of the hijab in Pakistan, examining its transformation from a religious practice to a dynamic marker of cultural identity influenced by modern fashion trends and socio-political change. The discussion highlighted shifting gender roles, consumer culture, and media influence in shaping contemporary narratives.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer discussion, fostering critical thinking and collaborative learning. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Mahmood Ul Hassan, Chairperson, Department of Linguistics & Social Sciences, and Dr. Jawed Ahmed, Focal Person, for their academic guidance and effective coordination. Acknowledgment is also due to Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi and Mr. Rafique Ahmed Lakhan, along with the participating students, for their active engagement and valuable contributions to the success of the session.
