Weather Alert: Snowfall, Fog, and Landslide Risk Across Northern Areas

Due to snowfall on January 1, there is a risk of road closures and traffic disruption because of slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.
There is also a danger of landslides and avalanches in the mountainous regions of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In most plain areas of the country, fog is expected during night and early morning hours.

On Thursday, cold and dry weather is likely to prevail in most parts of the country. However, light to moderate rain is expected at a few places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the Potohar region, northeastern Punjab, and Islamabad, with snowfall over the mountains.

On Friday, cold and dry weather will continue in most regions. Dense fog is likely to persist during night and morning hours in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh.
Meanwhile, very cold conditions are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northern Balochistan, and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
