The Centre of Agricultural Biochemistry and Biotechnology (CABB), University of Agriculture Faisalabad, organized the 3rd Two Days Workshop on “Molecular Biology in Forensic Science: Connecting Classroom with Crime Lab” on December 08–09, 2025. The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between classroom teaching and practical forensic applications by introducing students and young researchers to modern molecular techniques used in criminal investigations.
The event featured renowned national and international experts from academia and leading forensic institutions, including the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) and the Forensic Laboratory at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), Lahore. The inaugural session began with recitation from the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool (PBUH), followed by introductory remarks by Dr. Adnan Khan Niazi, Event Focal Person.
Key presentations covered DNA fingerprinting, interdisciplinary applications of forensic science including forensic botany, high-profile forensic case studies, crime scene investigation protocols, and career opportunities for biotechnology graduates. Speakers from PFSA Lahore and Faisalabad shared practical insights into forensic DNA analysis and real-world casework, making the sessions highly interactive and informative.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony and a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Bushra Sadia, Director CABB. On the second day, participants visited PFSA Lahore and the Forensic Laboratory at CEMB Lahore, where they observed state-of-the-art forensic facilities and laboratory practices.
