Karachi, 07 May 2026 — The Sindh Health Department has set up a new search committee to ensure transparent, merit-based appointments and transfers to key administrative posts, a move widely appreciated by health experts as a major reform initiative by Secretary Health Tahir Hussain Sangi.According to a notification issued on 4 May 2026 by Secretary Health Sindh Tahir Hussain Sangi, the committee was formed with the approval of the Health Minister to make appointments of District Health Officers and Medical Superintendents of major government hospitals strictly on the basis of need, eligibility, and transparency.Professor Dr. Jamal Raza, Executive Director of the Sindh Institute of Child Health & Neonatology, has been appointed Chairman of the committee. Director General Health Services Sindh Dr. Waqar Mahmood Memon will serve as Member/Convener, while Additional Secretary (Technical), Health Department, has been named Member.The committee has been tasked with recommending suitable and qualified candidates for key posts to ensure that professionally competent officers are appointed.Medical professionals and health sector circles have welcomed the step, terming it a much-needed reform by Secretary Health Tahir Hussain Sangi.
