PSL Media Rights Sold in Record Deal Worth Rs 26 Billion
Pakistan’s biggest commercial agreement in cricket has been finalized, with the media rights of the Pakistan Super League sold to Walee Technologies for Rs 26 billion over four years.
According to details, three bidders competed for the rights, with Walee Technologies securing the deal by offering a bid approximately Rs 3 billion above the reserve price.
Matches are expected to be broadcast on Pakistan Television Corporation, while two major sports channels were disqualified after failing to clear outstanding payments despite being granted additional time.
The league is also set to expand, with the number of matches increasing from 34 last season to 44 following the inclusion of two new teams.
Under the revenue-sharing framework, after production costs are deducted, any broadcast deal exceeding Rs 3 billion annually will allocate $500,000 for signing icon overseas players. Of the remaining revenue, 80 percent will go to the Pakistan Cricket Board, while 20 percent will be distributed among the franchises.
