Heavy Snowfall in Northern Areas Causes Road Closures, Travel Advisory Issued

Due to heavy snowfall on January 27, road closures and traffic disruptions are expected in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli because of slippery conditions.

There is a risk of landslides and avalanches in the mountainous regions of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Tourists have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

On Tuesday, intermittent rain and snowfall are expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with chances of heavy rain and moderate to heavy snowfall at some locations.
Meanwhile, Lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, and northern Balochistan may experience cloudy weather with strong winds and thunderstorms, along with rain at a few places. Other parts of the country will remain cold and dry.

On Wednesday, cold and dry weather is expected across most regions, while very cold conditions will prevail in hilly areas. However, parts of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan may witness rain and snowfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

In Islamabad, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is likely on Tuesday, while cold and dry weather is expected on Wednesday, with chilly winds blowing in the afternoon.
