Meezan Bank has appointed Dr. Syed Amir Ali as its President and Chief Executive Officer

Meezan Bank has appointed Dr. Syed Amir Ali as its President and Chief Executive Officer, effective December 30, 2025, following the retirement of Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, Founder, President and CEO of Meezan Bank, who leaves behind a distinguished legacy of pioneering Islamic banking in Pakistan.
Dr. Amir Ali brings over two decades of experience in banking and finance. He joined Meezan Bank in 2006, later served as President and CEO of BankIslami Pakistan Limited, and rejoined Meezan Bank in 2023 as the President (Designate) and Deputy CEO.
Following the legacy of the founding CEO, Dr. Amir Ali will be responsible for steering the Bank’s strategic direction and advancing its Vision of establishing ‘Islamic banking as banking of first choice…’, while upholding the Bank’s core values with a strong emphasis on Shariah-compliant banking, sound governance, and excellence in digital transformation.
He has over two decades of experience in Islamic banking and finance, has held senior roles at A.F. Ferguson & Co., Shell, BankIslami Pakistan Limited, and Meezan Bank, and holds professional qualifications including the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute, USA; Chartered Certified Accountant from ACCA, UK; Chartered Accountant and Gold Medallist from ICAP; an MBA and Gold Medal from Hamdard University, Karachi; and an LL.B. degree from the University of Karachi.
