Renowned Pakistan-Born Surgeon Awarded OBE for Medical Excellence

Professor Syed Saeed Ashraf, a Pakistan-born cardiothoracic surgeon at Morriston Hospital, has been awarded the prestigious Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his outstanding services in cardiac surgery, international medical training, and humanitarian efforts.

Based in Swansea, Dr. Ashraf has also made a profound impact in Pakistan through his voluntary work at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, performing complex heart surgeries for young patients, including those suffering from rheumatic heart disease and Afghan refugees in need of specialized cardiac care.

In addition to his surgical expertise, he dedicates time to training local surgeons, helping expand advanced cardiac treatment facilities to remote and underserved regions of Pakistan.

Reflecting on the award, Professor Ashraf expressed humility, stating that the recognition represents the collective support of his family, mentors, and colleagues who have been part of his journey.

His achievement is celebrated as a proud milestone for both Pakistan and the international medical community.
