Snowstorm in the U.S. Claims 30 Lives Amid Widespread Disruptions
Severe snowstorms in the United States have caused the death toll from various accidents to rise to 30.
According to U.S. media, two-thirds of the country remains under intense cold. The snowfall has led to the cancellation of 12,000 flights, while more than 550,000 people are without electricity.
Extreme cold warnings have been issued for nearly 200 million people across 44 states, and emergency measures have been implemented in 24 states.
Media reports indicate that New York City has recorded snowfall of 8 to 15 inches.
In rural areas of New York, temperatures dropped to minus 49°F. Federal offices in Washington, D.C. are closed today, and schools in New York City are conducting online classes.
