Heavy Snowfall and Strong Winds Pose Risks in Northern and Upper Areas; Tourists Advised to Exercise Caution

From the night of January 26 to January 27, heavy snowfall has caused road closures and slippery conditions in areas including Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astor, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, and Zhob, disrupting traffic flow.

In upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a risk of landslides and falling snow masses. Tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution.

On Monday, cloudy skies with strong winds and thunderstorms accompanied by rain/snowfall are expected in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Some upper regions may experience moderate to heavy snowfall. In southern/northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rain is also expected at certain locations. Islamabad and upper/central Punjab may see thunderstorms and heavy winds with rain in the evening/night.

On Tuesday, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Punjab are expected to remain cloudy with rain/snowfall and strong winds, while other areas of the country will experience cold and dry weather.
