The numbers presented by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are now being widely discussed— many are even suggesting a social audit of SRSO – Sindh Rural Support Organization’s work.
I would welcome that but with one request:
Conduct the social audit by going to the field, not by sitting in rooms.
If anyone has genuine concerns, I encourage them to connect with Zulfiqar Kalhoro CEO SRSO and meet the beneficiaries directly. You will meet women who have broken social barriers, are running their own businesses, and are eager to share their journeys and achievements.
Just last Friday, in Mirpurkhas, within four hours, I physically visited 6–7 garment sites run by small business holders—some individually, some jointly on a slightly larger scale. Later that evening, we met around 15 small business owners over dinner. That was only Mirpurkhas.
On Saturday morning, we visited 6–7 different business sites in Jhuddo, followed by meetings with around 15 more business owners.
In just 8–9 hours, we interacted with over 40 business owners, 65% of whom were women.
So instead of raising fingers from afar, pack your bags and go to the field. Meet the women who are doing marvelous work, earning with dignity, and transforming their communities.
Through the support of the Sindh Government, SRSO is doing remarkable work. There is a lot of progress on the ground that deserves to be witnessed and showcased—not dismissed.
