Should the Dates of the Pakistan–Australia Series Be Rescheduled?

The schedule for the three-match T20 International series between Pakistan and Australia has been announced, with all matches set to be played in Lahore on January 29, January 31, and February 1.

However, the timing of the series has sparked debate, as Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup has yet to be announced. The team management had initially planned to finalize the squad after the Sri Lanka series, but that did not happen. As a result, the Australia series has now become Pakistan’s final opportunity to assess players before the World Cup.

A major point of concern is January 31, which is the ICC’s deadline for submitting final squads. Coincidentally, Pakistan will be playing a T20 match against Australia on the same day. This has raised questions about whether the squad will be announced late at night immediately after the match, a scenario many find unusual.

Cricket analysts and fans have also pointed out that if the matches were scheduled on January 29 and 30, the team management would have had at least two games to evaluate players before finalizing the squad. Making such a crucial decision based on just one match seems odd. Similarly, since back-to-back matches are scheduled on January 31 and February 1, a similar approach could have been applied earlier in the series.

The unusual scheduling has triggered widespread discussion across social media and cricket circles. Now, all eyes are on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to see whether any changes will be made to the schedule, or when the T20 World Cup squad will finally be announced. Once again, this situation highlights the unpredictable nature of Pakistan cricket at its peak.
