University of Sindh Announces MPhil, PhD Admissions, Highlights Surge in Qualified Candidates

**JAMSHORO โ€“ Nov 25 2025** โ€“ A significant increase in high-achieving candidates has marked the latest pre-entry test results for postgraduate programs at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. The university has now officially announced the outcomes for admissions to its 37 MPhil and 33 PhD courses, revealing a robust pool of talent cleared for the next academic session.

The tests, which were conducted in August of this year, served as the gateway for admission into 37 MPhil and 33 PhD disciplines. Following a rigorous evaluation process, the university has now finalized the selection of candidates who have met the stringent qualifying criteria.

A total of 544 candidates applied for the MPhil programs, with 464 appearing for the 100-minute test. The results revealed a strong cohort of 257 candidates who successfully achieved the required minimum score of 50%. The top scorers included Ahsan Ali, who topped the MPhil Physics category with an impressive 88 marks, followed by Zahid Hussain (Computer Science) and Sanwal Thebo (Business Administration), both securing 84 marks. The departments of Chemistry, Physics, and Botany emerged as the most sought-after, producing the highest number of successful candidates.

On the doctoral front, the competition was even fiercer, with 181 applicants vying for a place. Of the 148 who sat for the test, 51 candidates cleared the Higher Education Commission (HEC) mandated high-stakes cut-off of 60%. Kanwal Zaman (Pharmacy Practice) led the PhD cohort with 88 marks, followed by Sameera Khan (86) and Mumtaz Solangi (Genetics, 84).

The examination was held under tight security and supervision at designated centers within the Institute of Mathematics & Computer Science, Institute of Commerce, and Business Administration. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalilur Rehman Khoumbati, along with senior faculty, was present on-site to personally oversee the proceedings, ensuring a transparent and disciplined environment.

Commenting on the successful outcome, Dr. Aftab Chandio, Director of the University Testing Center, emphasized the significance of the improved results. “This round of entry testing not only reflects the University of Sindhโ€™s commitment to academic excellence but also its dedication to merit-based admissions and fair evaluation,” he stated.

The successful candidates are now expected to proceed with the final stages of their admission into the University of Sindh’s postgraduate programs for the current academic year.
