Addressing the gathering, Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the university’s legacy of academic distinction and service to society.
“The University of Sindh is the mother of all universities in the province. Every higher education institution functioning in Sindh today traces its roots to this great seat of learning,” he remarked.
He pledged to promote research culture, ensure administrative transparency and strengthen collaboration among academia, industry and community sectors.
Dr Marri also emphasized that universities played a vital role in social transformation and human resource development, saying that he would focus on empowering faculty and students through innovation and inclusivity.
Later, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor visited the mausoleum of the founder VC of the University of Sindh Allama I.I. Kazi. He offered fateha, laid floral wreaths and paid homage to his lifelong contributions in establishing the university as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment in Sindh. He also visited the tombs of former VC Dr N.A Baloch, Dr Abida Taherani and Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Main Campus Professor Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Sindh University Registrar Professor Dr Mushtaque Ali Jariko, former VC Professor Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, SU campus Thatta Professor Dr Misbah Bibi Qureshi, senior university officials, deans, directors and administrative heads were also present on the occasion.
