Joe Root becomes the second cricketer to reach 14,000 Test runs
England star Joe Root has become the first batter from England and only the second player in Test cricket history to complete 14,000 runs. He reached the milestone during the Oval Test, adding yet another record to his remarkable red-ball career.
Root achieved the landmark in his 302nd Test innings and now stands just behind India great Sachin Tendulkar on the all-time list of highest Test run-scorers. Tendulkar remains at the top with 15,921 runs, while Root continues to close the gap with his consistent performances for England.
