The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has approved Punjab’s first-ever PhD Nursing programme, creating new opportunities for nurses in higher education, research, healthcare management, and policymaking.

The programme was approved by the Specialty Advisory Committee chaired by UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore. Admissions are expected to open in July, with 20 seats available in the first batch. Candidates must secure at least 75 percent marks in the UHS entrance test.

Prof. Rathore said the programme will help produce highly qualified nursing scholars, educators, researchers, and healthcare leaders, while addressing the shortage of doctoral-level nursing faculty in Pakistan.
