FIFA World Cup: 32-Year-Old Record Finally Broken
The FIFA World Cup 2026 has witnessed another historic moment as a 32-year-old attendance record was broken during the tournament’s thrilling matches.
According to details, a total of 281,223 spectators attended four matches played on Tuesday, creating a new single-day record in World Cup history. This figure surpassed the previous record set during the 1994 World Cup in the United States, when 277,070 fans attended four matches in a single day.
The matches drew massive crowds across stadiums. The France vs Senegal game attracted 80,545 fans, Argentina vs Algeria saw 69,045 spectators, Austria vs Jordan recorded 68,527, while Iraq vs Norway was attended by 63,106 people.
These numbers highlight the growing global excitement and fan engagement in the early stages of the tournament.
FIFA officials also reported that the current average attendance stands at 65,483 per match, with expectations that the overall tournament attendance record of 3.5 million fans could also be surpassed by the end of the event.
