KARACHI (PR 20 May 2026) With Eid-ul-Adha just around the corner, trading activity has reached its zenith at the ‘Awam Dost’ sacrificial animal market in Karachi. Livestock traders from across Pakistan are witnessing windfall gains as an overwhelming response from local buyers has triggered a massive buying frenzy, leaving many sellers completely sold out days before the festive occasion.

According to Tariq Tanoli, the Administrator of the Awam Dost Mandi, cattle are being sold at a remarkably brisk pace, allowing several inter-provincial traders to wrap up their businesses early and head back to their hometowns with substantial profits.

“Khan Muhammad, a seasoned trader hailing from Dera Murad Jamali, Balochistan, has emerged as the first lucky vendor of the season to fully liquidate his stock,” Tanoli stated. Muhammad, who brought a herd of 45 premium sacrificial animals to the metropolis, managed to sell every single one of them within a record time.

Speaking warm-heartedly upon his departure, Khan Muhammad remarked, “The citizens of Karachi have shown immense generosity, and I have absolutely no complaints. I am heading back home happily with my hard-earned fortune.”

The streak of good luck also favored Sultan, a prominent livestock trader from Kashmore, Sindh. Sultan successfully auctioned off his entire consignment of 87 cattle and is currently preparing for his journey back home.

Similarly, local traders are reaping the benefits of the market’s high footfall. Dost Muhammad, a vendor from Karachi’s Qaidadad area, reported that out of the 30 animals he put up for sale, 25 have already been purchased, leaving him with only five animals to trade.

Market analysts and vendors attribute this year’s exceptional sales velocity to the exemplary administrative arrangements. Traders expressed high satisfaction with the comprehensive security protocols, uninterrupted utility services, and well-lit blocks implemented by the management. They noted that these factors have significantly bolstered consumer confidence, making the Awam Dost Mandi a preferred and secure hub for seasonal livestock trading in the region.
