HEC Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar Inaugurates Multipurpose Hall and Real-Time Air Quality Monitoring System at BBSUTSD Khairpur

Chairman Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar visited Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development, Khairpur on April 23, 2026, where he inaugurated a newly constructed Multipurpose Hall and a real-time Air Quality Monitoring System.Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar warmly welcomed the Chairman and highlighted HEC’s pivotal role in transforming Pakistan’s higher
education landscape through quality education, research promotion, and institutional capacity building. He credited Dr. Akhtar’s visionary leadership for guiding universities toward innovation and global relevance.The newly launched Air Quality Monitoring System marks a major technological milestone and is among the first such initiatives in public sector universities of Sindh. Both facilities are expected to significantly enhance academic, co-curricular, and professional activities on campus.Dr. Akhtar also toured a technical exhibition where students from various departments showcased innovative projects.
He appreciated the institution’s strong emphasis on practical learning and skill development, and urged students and faculty to refine their work to make it commercially viable and competitive in international markets.As part of the visit, the Chairman planted a tree sapling at the new campus, underscoring the university’s commitment to sustainability. Prof. Dr. Saleem Raza Samo, Vice Chancellor QUEST Nawabshah, and Mr. Suleman Ahmed, Regional Director HEC Sindh, were also present on the occasion.The Vice Chancellor briefed Dr. Akhtar on the university’s academic programs, future plans, and ongoing development initiatives. The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the quality of projects and lauded the efforts of the Vice Chancellor, faculty, and students in promoting technical education and innovation.
