SABS UNIVERSITY HOSTS SEMINAR ON “ART AND DESIGN AS CATALYST 3.0” IN COLLABORATION WITH ADAA
Jamshoro (April 16, 2026): Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritages, Jamshoro organized an engaging seminar titled “Art and Design as Catalyst 3.0” in collaboration with the Architecture, Design and Art Award (ADAA), aimed at exploring the transformative power of art and design in the society. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Architecture and Planning and the Department of Communication Design, bringing together leading architects, designers, and artists to inspire students and broaden their creative perspectives.
Chairperson of Architecture Department Ar. Shazia Abro welcomed the guests and in her address she said that ADAA is a prestigious platform that recognizes and promotes excellence in architecture, design, and the arts by connecting academia with industry professionals since its inception in 2018. ….

The ADA Awards have been a beacon of recognition for the country’s most innovative and socially impactful projects, furthering dialogue and collaboration within the creative industry. It encourages innovation, critical thinking, and global exposure for emerging designers and architects, while also highlighting projects that create meaningful social and environmental impact.
During the event, renowned architect Tarique Hassan emphasized the importance of contextual and sustainable design, urging students to respond to local environments while maintaining global standards. Saima Saleem from SIUT shared her experiences in designing inclusive healthcare environments and highlighted the role of advertisement campaign and functionality in SIUT under the leadership of Dr. Adeeb Rizvi. Ar. Shazia Qureshi of SAKA spoke about integrating traditional aesthetics with modern design approaches, encouraging students to preserve cultural identity in their work. Designer Ali Rez discussed the growing influence of digital tools and emerging technologies in design processes, while Artist Munawar Ali focused on the expressive and social role of art, encouraging young creatives to use art as a medium for storytelling and social change….

A panel discussion was also organized as part of the event. Founding Director of ADAA, Ar. Maria Aslam, along with Ar. Tarique Hassan, Ar. Shazia Qureshi, Saima Saleem,

artist Munawar Ali and designer Aasma Qureshi, participated as panelists. The discussion revolved around the evolving role of art and design education, industry expectations, and the need for bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice. The session was effectively moderated by Chairperson of the Department of Architecture, Ar. Shazia Abro, who facilitated a thought-provoking exchange of ideas.
The event provided students with a valuable platform to interact with industry leaders, gain insights into real-world challenges, and understand how art and design can serve as powerful catalysts for innovation, cultural expression, and societal development.
