A mysterious and unusual scene was witnessed in the skies over the tourist town of Denham in Western Australia when the sky suddenly turned red, leaving locals and visitors shocked and fearful.

The rare red sky phenomenon was caused by large storm dust clouds combined with specific weather conditions in the region.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle has been an unusually historic system, becoming the first cyclone in over 20 years to make landfall across three different regions of Australia. After impacting Queensland and the Northern Territory, it re-intensified in the Indian Ocean into a powerful Category 4 cyclone.

Residents described the atmosphere as eerie and silent. According to a local, “We are in code red, the roads are empty, and the scene is very strange.”

By Saturday evening, the cyclone began losing its tropical characteristics.

According to international media, while the immediate cyclone threat has eased, authorities are still on alert for possible flooding in affected areas.
