Pakistan Makes Its Presence Felt During T20 World Cup, Surprises Indian Viewers
Pakistan captured the attention of cricket fans during the fourth match of the T20 World Cup, New Zealand vs. Afghanistan, as a glimpse of Pakistan unexpectedly appeared on screen.
Viewers of the Indian online streaming app Hotstar were taken by surprise when a “Pakistan Review” segment was broadcast during the fifth over of the match. The sudden appearance of the Pakistan review sign startled audiences and immediately sparked discussions across social media.
This came at a sensitive time, as Pakistan had already declined to play against India in the tournament. Yesterday, an ICC delegation visited Lahore to request the match be played, meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
It is worth noting that a day earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had officially informed the ICC that the national team would not participate in the T20 World Cup match against India scheduled for February 15 in Colombo.
The decision was made following clear directives from the Government of Pakistan, turning what is normally cricket’s biggest event into a mix of political and sporting tension.
