From February 1, the Lahore Traffic Police will begin penalizing motorcyclists who ride without safety rods as part of the “Safe Basant” initiative, aimed at reducing injuries caused by stray kite strings.

As part of the campaign, free safety rods will be fitted on one million motorcycles at 100 designated camps across the city, with locations to be announced soon.

In addition, authorities have enforced strict Basant regulations, including restricted kite-flying days, controlled kite sales, and a zero-tolerance policy on aerial firing, with violators facing legal action.
