A distinguished QAA-HEC RIPE Review Team visited Sukkur IBA University from 13 to 15 January to conduct the Review of Institutional Performance Enhancement (RIPE) under the Pakistan Standards and Guidelines (PSG-2023) framework.

A distinguished QAA-HEC RIPE Review Team visited Sukkur IBA University from 13 to 15 January to conduct the Review of Institutional Performance Enhancement (RIPE) under the Pakistan Standards and Guidelines (PSG-2023) framework. This visit was organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as part of the RIPE piloting initiative aimed at strengthening external quality assurance mechanisms in higher education institutions.
The review team was led by Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Budzar, Vice Chancellor, Thal University Bhakkar, serving as Convener. Other members included Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, Dean, Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJK; Prof. Dr. Kashif Sab, Dean, Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi; Prof. Dr. Nadia Nasir, Professor, Superior University, Lahore; Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha, Director QEC/Professor, Government College University (GCU), Faisalabad; Dr. Muhammad Saeed Shahbaz, Associate Professor, University of Central Punjab (UCP), Lahore; and Mr. Imtiaz Ali Lakhan, Assistant Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad.
The RIPE team was warmly received by the leadership of Sukkur IBA University, headed by Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor. The welcoming delegation included Prof. Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah, Pro Vice Chancellor (Main Campus); Prof. Dr. A. R. Soomrani, Pro Vice Chancellor (Sukkur IBA Campuses); Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ali Mirani, Pro Vice Chancellor, IET Khairpur Mirs; Prof. Dr. Niaz Hussain Bhutto, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences; Dr. Zafarullah, Dean, Faculty of Education; Dr. Saeed Ahmed Khan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; along with Mr. Muhammad Irfan Qasim, Additional Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), and the QEC team.
During the three-day visit, the RIPE review team conducted a comprehensive and evidence-based audit in accordance with PSG-2023 RIPE standards and Essential Outcomes Indicators (EOIs). The team verified documentary evidence, reviewed policies and procedures, and held structured meetings with students, faculty members, Deans, Heads of Departments, Directors, and sectional heads to gain a holistic understanding of institutional practices and stakeholder perspectives. The team also visited academic, administrative, and support infrastructure facilities to assess physical resources and learning environments.
An exit meeting was held with Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor, Sukkur IBA University, where the RIPE team appreciated the University’s hospitality, cooperation, and institutional support throughout the visit. The reviewers commended Sukkur IBA University for its sustainability initiatives, quality of education, robust infrastructure, experienced faculty and staff, and growing focus on internationalization. The team also identified areas for further improvement in line with PSG-2023 principles to strengthen continuous quality enhancement.
The Vice Chancellor thanked the RIPE team for their valuable insights and professional guidance and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to implementing the review findings in letter and spirit. The RIPE visit marked a significant milestone in Sukkur IBA University’s ongoing journey toward Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and alignment with national reforms and international best practices in higher education.
