India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Chasing a target of 301 runs, India reached the total in 49 overs. Virat Kohli starred with a brilliant knock of 93 runs but narrowly missed his 54th ODI century. Shubman Gill scored 56, while Shreyas Iyer added 49 runs.
For New Zealand, Kyle Jamieson was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets.

Earlier, New Zealand posted a total of 300 runs, with Daryl Mitchell scoring 84, Devon Conway 56, and Henry Nicholls contributing 62 runs.
For India, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Mohammed Siraj picked up 2 wickets each.
