DIKIOHS Launches Mentoring Program for BDS Students

Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS) formally launched its Mentoring Program for undergraduate BDS students with an orientation ceremony focused on strengthening academic guidance and supportive counseling.
The program was presented by Dr. Sofia Malik, Associate Professor DIKIOHS, serving as Mentor Lead. She introduced the programโ€™s aims objectives and systematic implementation plan emphasizing the role of effective mentor mentee relationships in bridging communication gaps encouraging reflective learning and fostering a supportive academic environment.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Jahan Ara Hasan, Pro Vice Chancellor DUHS, who congratulated the DIKIOHS team and highlighted the value of mentoring programs drawing on the โ€œshadow mentorshipโ€ model practiced in western universities.
Prof. Dr. Anwar Ali, Principal DIKIOHS, and Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Dean Faculty of Dentistry, shared insights on how mentoring supports informed career decisions.
Prof. Dr. Farhan Vakani, Director Dow Institute of Health Professions Education, highlighted the importance of mentoring based on his international experience.
The event concluded with the announcement of faculty training workshops for mentors and mentees in the coming months, reaffirming DIKIOHS commitment to nurturing competent confident and professionally grounded dental graduates.
