Sindh Human Rights Department Participates in Roundtable on Technology-Facilitated GBV
Karachi-. 12 December. Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh has participated in a roundtable discussion organized by the Legal Aid Society (LAS) in collaboration with UNFPA and FCDO under the AWAAZ II Programme at a local hotel. The event focused on the growing challenge of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) in Sindh. Director Human Rights Department Agha Fakhur Hussain highlighted that online harassment, cyberstalking, blackmail, and non-consensual sharing of content are rapidly increasing and require urgent institutional attention. He emphasized that TFGBV was not only a cybercrime issue but a significant human rights concern, calling for coordinated action between government departments, law enforcement, civil society, and digital platforms.
The Human Rights Department reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening TFGBV-related policies, improving survivor-centered response mechanisms, supporting officer sensitization, and enhancing public awareness on digital safety.
Agha Fakhur Hussain appreciated LAS for organizing the discussion and for developing a policy brief outlining key legal and institutional gaps. The Human Rights Department expressed its readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure safer and more inclusive digital spaces for women in Sindh.
