Gahanwer Ali Laghari , Managing Director, Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) Government of Sindh convened the first review meeting on the ongoing study of the Sindh School Education Scholarship Program (SSESP) at Head Office on Monday.
The SSESP designed to support meritorious students from across Sindh by linking them with quality educational institutions nationwide, enabling them to pursue post-primary to higher secondary education. As of 2024โ€“25, more than 4,524 scholars (850 girls and 3,674 boys) are enrolled under the program. Most reside in boarding facilities, which offer structured academic and social environments that influence their learning, well-being, and overall development.
The current in-house study, led by the Research and Publication Unit (RPU) under the supervision of Assistant Director RPU, Ms. Shazia Solangi, aims to examine the academic, social, and emotional experiences of SSESP scholars. The study also seeks to identify institutional strengths and gaps and generate actionable recommendations to further enhance SEFโ€™s support mechanisms. Following the development of research instruments, enumerators received a three-day orientation to ensure clarity of objectives and field protocols.
The meeting was chaired by Managing Director SEF, Mr. Gahanwer Ali Laghari, and attended by the RPU and program teams, while district and regional officials joined via video link. During the session, teams shared their field experiences, progress updates, and data collected from partner institutions. Discussions covered institutional strengths, emerging trends, and challenges encountered by scholarship students across districts.
The Managing Director appreciated the collective efforts of the teams for carrying out this important assignment and emphasized that such research-oriented initiatives contribute significantly to evidence-based policy development. He encouraged the RPU to continue this legacy of informed and analytical work to strengthen SEFโ€™s programs across the province.
