In the prevailing circumstances, I have spoken to President Arif Alvi and have appealed him to play his role to diffuse the rising tensions in Pakistan. The economical situation of Pakistan cannot afford such deterioration.

I emphasised that armed forces and judiciary are symbols of stability for the country. All political forces, be that in government and opposition, must respect their sanctity.

As President, he is the supreme commander of the armed forces and has a constitutional role to maintain the dignity and sanctity of these institutions.

I have requested him to create dialogue between all political parties to ensure that the army and judiciary are not brought into political discussions.
