A true exemplary leader always leads from the front and serves as a role model for her followers through sustained academic excellence and global engagement. Reflecting this spirit, the Vice Chancellor of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU) Sukkur, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, represented Pakistan at the International Conference on Development and Environmental Economics: SANDEE@25, held at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Kathmandu, Nepal, from 12โ14 December 2025.

The international conference was organized by the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) to celebrate 25 years of its impactful contributions toward strengthening research capacity, policy-relevant scholarship, and regional collaboration across South Asia.

Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj was invited to this prestigious forum in recognition of her long-standing association with SANDEE as a SANDEE grantee and researcher, whose career was shaped through SANDEE-funded research initiatives. Her journey from being a SANDEE-supported researcher to serving as the Vice Chancellor of a public sector university in Pakistan was acknowledged as a proud moment not only for her institution but also for SANDEE itself.

At the conference, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj served as a panellist and shared personal reflections on her academic and professional journey with SANDEE. She highlighted how SANDEE played a transformative role in strengthening her technical capacity, supporting her research training, and facilitating her professional growth, which ultimately enabled her to contribute more effectively to policy-oriented research in development and environmental economics.

During her remarks, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that the celebration of SANDEEโs 25 years holds deep significance for SANDEE grantees across South Asia. She noted that over the past quarter century, SANDEE has empowered researchers by enhancing their analytical skills, supporting educational advancement, fostering career progression, and building a strong regional research network. She further underscored that SANDEE has paved clear pathways for its grantees to contribute meaningfully to natural resource management, climate and environmental governance, and sustainable economic development in their respective countries.
Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj expressed her gratitude to SANDEE for the invitation and warmly appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with the SANDEE academic community. She described the gathering as a moment of pride and reflection, celebrating a shared legacy of mentorship, collaboration, and regional impact.
