Australia have been hit with a significant setback as leading fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been sidelined for the remainder of the Test summer and the Ashes due to injury. Hazlewood had sustained a hamstring injury during a Sheffield Shield match last month, which had already forced him out of the first two Ashes Tests. Head coach Andrew McDonald has now confirmed that the pacer will not be able to make a comeback this season.

According to McDonald, Hazlewood experienced unexpected complications during recovery, making his return impossible. He added that the focus will now shift towards preparing the bowler for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which holds great importance for the team.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has confirmed that Pat Cummins will be available for the third Ashes Test beginning on December 17 in Adelaide. His return is expected to strengthen Australiaโ€™s bowling attack, though Hazlewoodโ€™s absence remains a major setback. It is worth noting that England have lost both opening matches of the series, with Australia securing victories by eight wickets in each. The third Test will commence on December 17 in Adelaide.
