A Japanese company has begun selling a “human washing machine” that first amazed crowds at the Osaka World Expo. Users lie inside a closed pod to be washed and relaxed while music plays, and the device tracks vital signs. The product, created by Japanese firm Science, is inspired by a similar exhibit shown at the 1970 Osaka Expo.

After interest from a US resort company, the firm decided to mass-produce it—though only about 50 units will be made. The first machine was bought by a hotel in Osaka, and electronics retailer Yamada Denki is also a customer. Local media say the machine will cost around 60 million yen ($385,000).
