Australia’s first PM wedding in office: Anthony Albanese weds Jodie Haydon
Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese has married to Jodie Haydon at the private Lodge ceremony in Canberra.
After marrying with his partner of five years, Albanese becomes the first serving Australian PM to tie the knot in office.
The marriage ceremony took place at Albanese’s official residence, the Lodge, in which family members, including Albanese’s son Nathan and Haydon parents and close friends participated to witness their long-term vows written by themselves.
Albanese, 62-year-old, and Haydon issued a statement while expressing their immense joy, “We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends.”
Haydon, 46-year-old, was walked down the aisle by her parents to the Ben Folds song The Luckiest.
Haydon was dressed in white colour which was designed by Sydney designer Romance was Born. On the other hand, the Australian PM’s three-piece suit was designed by MJ Bale. The wedding rings which the couple exchanged were from Cerrone Jewellers in Leichhardt, Sydney.
The official guest list included Jim Chalmers, the treasurer, and his wife, Laura, the foreign minister Penny Wong, Katy Gallagher, the finance minister, and the ALP national secretary, Paul Erickson.
Their relationship bloomed when they first met at a public function more than 5 years ago in Melbourne.
Albanese proposed to Haydon on the balcony at the Lodge in February 2024 especially on Valentine’s Day.
