Karachi: Chairman Prime Minister Youth Development Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has termed the recent increase in the prices of electricity, petrol as a result of the conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and has expressed his belief that we will be benefited from it and government’s actions will help us to exit IMF program next year. He said that 65% of Pakistan’s population comprise of young people which is both a blessing and a challenge in itself. He said that there is a dire need for nursing staff around the world, more than one lac nursing professionals are required annually in the Arab countries alone out of which only 30 thousand nurses are able to acquire jobs in foreign, we are trying to increase this number to 60 to 70 thousand next year. He further said that we are facilitating to provide trainings to one to 1.5 million people to get employment abroad. He made above remarks while addressing the faculty and students at Arag Auditorium in a visit to Dow Univesity of Health Sciences. Earlier, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan was welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy on his arrival at Dow University Baba—e- Urdu Road Campus. On this occasion, Rana Mashhood also inspected the Youth Development Centre established in Dow University. Upon his visit, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Nazli Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Jahan Ara Hasan, Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq, Principal Dow College of Pharmacy Focal Person Green Youth Movement Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Principal Dow Medical College Dr. Saba Sohail, Director Marketing Mr. Tariq Shahid and Manager PMYDC DUHS Mr. Farhan Khan, were present. Chairman PMYDP further said that the government will also provide one million rupees interest-free loan to the skilled young people for paper work and other expenses in case of employment abroad. He said that the students of Dow University are excelling all over the world which indicates that our educational institutions are our hope and shield in the darkness of despair. Our teachers are also suffering from the same issues alike common man but along with solving your problems, you are shaping the future of the country. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said you are the hope of Pakistan, those people who say that Pakistan’s future is bleak; look at our teachers and these students you will see our bright future in them, Institutions like Dow University have to be the torch bearer. He said that government will introduce “Laptop for All Scheme” to provide laptops ranging from one to 1.5 lac rupees on an interest-free loan. He said that 40 out of 100 innovative ideas which were selected last year through the incubation centres of Pakistan’s educational institutions are soon to be patent. Chairman PMYDP said that efforts are being made to make Pakistan prosperous again under the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that there is no shortage of talent in Pakistan. Ran Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that the government also wants to bring forward the youth in the field of sports, attention is being paid to this aspect as well. He told that ten sports academies will be set up in the county while departmental sports have also been restored. He said that unfortunately Pakistan is facing extreme weather conditions due to climate change whereas our share in this climate change is 0.001percent, but due to developed countries we are suffering from climate change, so now it is crucial to spread awareness and raise this issue before the world. He said that The Green Youth Movement will be further promoted by plantation drive. He further said that in this context, the National Volunteer Program is also going to start under which one lac students will be provided disaster management training. He said that due to extreme weather conditions, heat waves, glacial melting along with flash floods, earthquakes have increased. He said that in order to prevent the destruction by floods in Baluchistan, rain harvesting has started. Earlier, Principal Dow Medical College Professor Saba Sohail, said in her welcome address that the arrival of Chairman PM Youth Development Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan is an expression of his interest in endeavouring students. Manager Youth Development Centre DUHS Farhan Khan said that in last two year scholarships of worth 253 million rupees have been allocated He told that various courses are being conducted under Dow Skill Development Centres to train the young people while IELTS training courses are also conducted so that Young people should not face language barriers while going abroad. The Focal Person of Green Youth Movement and Principal Dow College of Pharmacy Professor Sumbul Shamim said that there are more than 300 Green Youth members in ten colleges of the university. They carried various plantation programs including awareness walks, community service, and flood relief campaigns. In the closing session, the Vice Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy adorned the traditional Sindhi topi and Ajrak to Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and also gave him a shield. Later, Prime Minister Youth Program Chief Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan planted a sapling in front of Anatomy Block of Dow Medical College.
