Thousands of tonnes of steel are likely to be smuggled from Iran during the Eid holidays

Smuggling of steel products from Iran continues, while thousands of tons of steel stockpiles across the border have been revealed for smuggling. Smuggling of steel products is expected to increase during the Eid holidays. According to the Pakistan Association of Large Steel Producers, large deposits of steel across the Panjgur border have been collected for smuggling. The volume of these reserves of seria and other products is said to be 25 thousand tons.

According to the steel producers, a large stock of steel products was smuggled into Pakistan during Eid last year with the connivance of the concerned personnel. This year also during the Eid holidays, the stock of steel has been collected for smuggling. Collected deposits include steel bars, steel angles, sections, pipes and plates. Customs officials are calling this steel as scrap.
