KARACHI, October 18: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the Constitution was restored as a result of the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karsaz and his mother, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, adding that whether someone else speaks or not, he will continue to raise his voice for the rights of the people of Pakistan.

He termed the green economic revolution as the solution to the economic challenges facing Pakistan and has said that if the people give his party a mandate in the upcoming general elections, a new economic corridor mega project will be launched in the country.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while announcing the launch of a nationwide “Awami Rabta Muham (masses contact campaign)” to protest against the non-announcement of the date as well as schedule of the general elections and said that the “constant delay of the election is tantamount to insulting and not honoring the vote.”

According to the press release issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP, while addressing the condolence gathering held on the 16th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy, paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of that tragic and bloody incident, saying that his Party’s around 200 workers made history by sacrificing their lives. He said that when cowardly terrorists carried out the first blast at Karsaz, the workers there instead of running away to save their lives, stood there to cover their leader, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, adding, “Look at all the parties in Pakistan, you will not find workers like Jiyalas.” “When Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was returning home on October 18, 2007, it was a historic day,” he said, adding that on that day, the people showed the true face of Pakistan to the world by giving a grand welcome to the Shaheed Bibi.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said: “Today we have gathered not only to remember our martyrs, but also to express solidarity with the Palestinian people who are victims of Israeli atrocities.” He said that we stand to tell the world that as long as there are people of Pakistan, Palestinians cannot be alone, adding that ties between his party and Palestine are very old. He furthered: “When Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was imprisoned, late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat took a promise from Zia-ul-Haq in Makkah that he would not execute Quaid-e-Awam. But, that liar (General Zia) ) reneged on his promise.

Talking about relations with Palestine, the PPP Chairman added that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was the first Prime Minister to visit Palestine and Gaza. “Late Yasser Arafat also came to Garhi Khuda Bux on the invitation of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, where he recited Fatiha at the grave of Quaid-e-Awam,” he added.

Chairman PPP demanded the Caretaker Prime Minister and Caretaker Foreign Minister to raise their voice in the world against the ongoing atrocities on the Palestinian people. “Caretaker Prime Minister and Caretaker Foreign Minister are not only representatives of Pakistan, they are also representatives of Palestine. You have to raise your voice for Palestine before the world.”

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while talking about the challenges facing the country, urged that if we want to solve the problems, we have to establish the same unity, the nation shows for its martyrs, the issue of Kashmir and Palestine. “We have to leave the politics of hate, division, revenge, racketeering and 1990s. Pakistan needs new politics. Pakistan needs new leadership to enter a new era,” he contended.

Chairman PPP said that time is up to admit that Pakistan is not moving in the right direction, and the politics of selection has sunk the ship of democracy, adding: “we have to move forward, and have elections. Parliament has to be put in place.” He said that problems can be solved despite differences and PPP has repeatedly set examples in this regard. “From 2008 to 2013, we proved that despite differences, initiatives like the 18th Amendment and Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) can be initiated,” he added.

Chairman Bilawal Zardari urged that people have to be trusted, who are undoubtedly the real owners and heirs of the country, adding: “only the people have the right to make the decisions of this country. That will happen when the elections are held, and the people will be able to choose the representatives they want.”
He pointed out that along with political stability, one more thing is needed for economic development. We have to run the economy in the interest of the people. “As long as a certain class continues to reap the benefits, the poor will continue to remain poorer and the rich will continue to get richer,” he added.

Chairman PPP said that in every government of his party, the interest of the common man was always thought of. “The government of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the government of farmers and workers, while the government of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was the government of the youth,” he said and added that even today, if the people have hope, it is from the PPP. “We have proved that the PPP is the party of the poor by launching programs like the BISP and spreading the infrastructure of free and quality medical treatment in Sindh. We have also countered the lies that PPP is lagged behind in development and bad for the business sector,” he added. He further said that the Thar Coal Energy project is a project that has proved to be beneficial for the entire country as well as the local population there. He questioned and said that in the deserts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, show where there are projects like Thar Coal? If we can build a successful project like Thar Coal in the Thar desert, there is no reason why we can’t build similar projects across the country,” he contended.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that those who used to criticize President Zardari for repeatedly visiting China, but then the same people have been trying to take credit for the CPEC project. “The fact is that (it was) President Zardari’s vision, President Zardari’s plan, President Zardari should also be given credit.”

Addressing the people, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that when you elect us in the next election, a new economic corridor project will be launched in the country, under which development and employment opportunities will be created in the backward areas. He said that Pakistan is playing a leading role in the fight against climate change. “We will bring a green revolution in Pakistan to combat climate change. We will bring investment in the infrastructure, housing and energy production sectors, including the development of the backward areas of the country, to adapt itself to climate change.”
He said that after the flood last year, the whole world was saying that Pakistan would not be able to collect the money required for the rehabilitation of the flood affected areas. “I, as your foreign minister, responded to all the critics. I brought the whole world together. The whole world was at our development conference, and announced 10 billion dollars in aid.”

He reiterated the resolve to once again bring the world together (for a green economic revolution in Pakistan). “Through a green economic revolution, we will provide employment opportunities to the youth. Build the country’s roads, infrastructure, houses, solar energy and wind power projects to combat climate change.”

He said that there is only one way for all these works to bury hatred, division and traditional politics forever, adding: “we demand that those who broke the constitution of Pakistan, who compromised national security, attacked institutions, should be punished.”

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pointed out that currently 70% of the population of Pakistan is around 30 years old. “I am of the same age, I am one of them. I can understand what the majority of the country is thinking right now. We reject the old, traditional, politics of bigotry and hatred. We know the problems of today. We want solutions. We want solutions to today’s inflation, poverty, unemployment and electricity bills. We are not concerned with your old politics. We are concerned with our tomorrow,” he added.

PPP Chairman said that the constitution, democracy and election of Pakistan have been frozen for the return of one person. He said that returning (homeland) is a good thing, because everyone should contribute to the development of Pakistan, adding: “at least, the government of the last 16 months has proven that Pakistan cannot be run from London.” He further said that it is hoped that the reception will be good after the state puts all its efforts, and the date and schedule for the upcoming general elections will be given by the ECP. “If the PPP has to take this bitter pill, then it is hoped that other parties will at least support the PPP’s demand that the election date and schedule be announced without delay,” he urged.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that his party intends to conduct a nationwide public contact campaign after today. “Our only demand will be to give the date and schedule of the election. I will go from place to place myself.” He said: “Even our former allies will agree that the repeated delay of the election is not honoring the vote, it is dishonouring.” He said that this democracy and this constitution were given by Shaheed Bhutto. “This constitution was restored as a result of the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karsaz and my mother Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Whether anyone else speaks or not. I will continue to demand the truth. The victory is always for the truth, the victory is always for the Jiyalas,” he concluded.

Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and other senior party leaders were also present on this occasion.
