TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT CHALLANS 12176 VEHICLES FOR EMITTING SMOKE

LAHORE, Nov. 22:

Provincial Transport Department has imposed fines worth Rs.4913 million to smoke emitting vehicles in different areas of the province during October and November. It also conducted challans of 12176 vehicles while impounding 2472 vehicles for emitting smoke on roads.

According to a statement of the department spokesperson issued here on Monday, the DRTAs secretaries have been directed to challan and impound smoke emitting vehicles for three days on the direction of Judicial Water and Environment Commission. The field teams comprising of secretary DRTAs, MMPIs, TSIs and MVEs are vigilantly working to keep a constant check on smoke emitting vehicles under rule 163 of MVR, 1969, the spokesperson added.
