The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, strong winds and rainfall in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n
According to the Met Office, various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are expected to experience thunderstorms, gusty winds and rain during evening hours.<\/p>\n
Heavy rain is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak and Bannu, while windstorms and rain are likely in DI Khan, Chitral, Swat, Dir and Miranshah. Rainfall is also expected in Kohistan, Shangla and Buner.<\/p>\n
The department stated that light to moderate showers accompanied by thunder may occur at scattered places in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram and Parachinar.<\/p>\n
In Balochistan, partly cloudy weather is expected in northeastern districts, while rain with thunderstorms is forecast for Zhob, Sherani, Ziarat, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Quetta and Qila Saifullah. Rain is also likely at isolated places in Qila Abdullah, Harnai, Sibi, Barkhan, Khuzdar and Dera Bugti.<\/p>\n
DG Met Irfan Waqar said that rain is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah and Bhakkar during the afternoon, while intermittent showers are likely in upper Punjab from June 20 onwards. Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin and Jhelum may also receive rainfall.<\/p>\n
He added that most northern areas of Balochistan may also receive rain, bringing pleasant weather conditions.<\/p>\n
He further said that heavy rainfall is expected in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until June 20, with continued spells of thunder, strong winds and rain in upper and central regions.<\/p>\n
According to the DG Met, there is also a risk of landslides in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla and Kohistan, which may disrupt road traffic.<\/p>\n
Citizens and tourists have been advised to avoid rivers, streams and flood-prone areas during rainfall and follow local administration instructions to prevent any untoward situation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in Rahim Yar Khan, strong winds and stormy rains disrupted daily life, injuring five people in various incidents. Walls, trees, electricity poles and signboards collapsed due to severe weather, causing damage in several areas.<\/p>\n
The power supply system was also disrupted due to falling trees and poles, leading to hours-long outages. MEPCO restored electricity after emergency repair work.<\/p>\n
