Sukkur IBA University, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Smart Classroom at the University of Baltistan under the European Commission-funded Erasmus Plus CBHE RAPID Project, where Sukkur IBA University is serving as the lead partner. The Sukkur IBA University delegation included Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Project Lead RAPID Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani, Registrar Engr. Muhammad Hafeez Tunio, and Director Protocol Mr. Meraj Mahar. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Governor Gilgit Baltistan H.E. Syed Mehdi Shah as Chief Guest, along with representatives from partner universities, faculty members, administrative staff, MPhil and PhD scholars, media representatives, civil society members, students, local government representatives, and members of the general public, while a nominee from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan also attended the ceremony online.\"\"
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh said that Sukkur IBA University has always followed the legacy of its Founding Vice Chancellor Late Prof. Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui by serving society through education and community development. <\/p>\n

\nHe shared that Sukkur IBA University aims to unite all four provinces of Pakistan along with Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir through quality education and collaboration to strengthen Pakistan through socio-economic development. He further highlighted that Sukkur IBA University deliberately partnered with comparatively underdeveloped universities of the country to build their capacity through online learning and smart classroom initiatives. He also offered an exchange program opportunity to the University of Baltistan for summer programs at Sukkur IBA University and highlighted Sukkur IBA University\u2019s contribution in Gilgit Baltistan through the OGDC NTHP initiative.\"\"\"\"\"\"
\nProf. Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani briefed the audience about the objectives of the RAPID Project and shared that after the completion of the project, the recommendations developed under RAPID will also be presented to HEC Pakistan to support the formulation and improvement of the Online Distance Learning (ODL) Policy in Pakistan. He further highlighted the role of Sukkur IBA University and the European Union in promoting technology-enabled education across Pakistan.
\nThe RAPID Project includes three European partners namely Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Linnaeus University, and Sapienza University of Rome, while the Pakistani partners include the Higher Education Commission Pakistan, Lahore University of Management Sciences, Institute of Business Administration Karachi, and Sukkur IBA University. The affiliated entities of the project include the University of Baltistan, University of Balochistan, and University of Turbat.\"\"\"\"\"\"
\nThe Smart Classroom established at the University of Baltistan is equipped with advanced digital facilities including an 86-inch Idea Hub, interactive whiteboard, e-learning tools, virtual desktop system, central interactive control system, high-speed internet, live video facilities with digital image stabilization, and multiple microphones to create an interactive and technology-enabled learning environment for students and faculty.
\nEuropean Delegation representative Dr. Sebastian Lorian highlighted European funding opportunities for Pakistani universities, while Governor Gilgit Baltistan H.E.
