FIFA has announced that the final squads for the 48 teams participating in the FIFA World Cup 2026 will officially be confirmed on June 2.<\/p>\n
According to reports, each team will be allowed to name a squad of 26 players, the same number that was approved for the 2022 World Cup.<\/p>\n
Under FIFA regulations, all participating nations must first submit a provisional list containing between 35 and 55 players, including at least four goalkeepers. This provisional list will remain confidential and will not be released publicly.<\/p>\n
Teams will later submit their final squads consisting of 23 to 26 players, with a minimum of three goalkeepers required.<\/p>\n
FIFA rules also allow teams to replace injured or seriously ill players up to 24 hours before their first match, provided the replacement player is included in the provisional list. Goalkeepers, however, may also be replaced during the tournament if necessary.<\/p>\n
National teams can announce their squads at any time, but they will not be officially finalized until FIFA grants formal approval on June 2.<\/p>\n
FIFA further stated that the player release and preparation period will begin on May 25, 2026, following the final club match of each player.
