These protests have been oriented around demands for his release, bail in pending legal cases, and broader expressions of political solidarity with the embattled PTI leadership.

From North America to Europe, sizeable demonstrations of the Pakistani diaspora have taken place with PTI activists and overseas Pakistanis rallying for what they describe as justice, fair trials, and an end to political victimization. In November 2024, thousands of supporters took to streets in over 60 global locations, including in the United States and Canada, where they vocally demanded Khan’s release from detention as well as the freedom of other PTI political prisoners. Videos and accounts shared by PTI channels showed protests in cities with significant Pakistani communities, including Canada where protests occurred in multiple cities, and a car rally in Chicago, with participants chanting slogans and holding banners calling for Imran Khan’s immediate release.

Similarly, European protests were reported in cities such as London and Paris, where PTI supporters, including women and children, organized marches and gatherings near symbolic locations like Downing Street and the European Parliament. These demonstrators carried party flags and placards, aired speeches, and appealed for international attention to what they described as politically motivated suppression of democratic dissent in Pakistan.

The motivations behind these overseas protests have evolved over time but have consistently centered on political solidarity with Imran Khan and PTI’s broader struggle against state pressure and judicial actions. Protesters argue that the bail denials, prolonged legal detentions, and the broader crackdown on PTI members signal an erosion of democratic norms. Overseas Pakistanis have leveraged these demonstrations not just as expressions of solidarity but also as attempts to influence international public opinion and urge foreign governments to scrutinize Pakistan’s human rights and rule‑of‑law situation.

Back home, Pakistan’s political landscape has seen an array of protests by PTI workers and supporters focused on Khan’s legal battles. These movements have included rallies outside courts, prison sit‑ins by Khan’s sisters and PTI workers demanding access to him, and nationwide mobilizations calling for judicial fairness and bail for party activists. Regular sit‑ins have taken place near Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail after family members were repeatedly denied court‑ordered visits, and PTI supporters have made it a point to protest these restrictions every Tuesday and Thursday….

Moreover, mass street protests within Pakistan on anniversaries of Khan’s imprisonment have often involved hundreds of PTI workers, some of whom faced arrests as police have cracked down on demonstrations. In August 2025, PTI sources reported that at least 300 activists were detained in Lahore during nationwide rallies demanding Khan’s release after sustained periods of detention and legal battles. These events underscore how political unrest around Khan’s legal status has remained a central organizing point for PTI’s grassroots activism.

The international dimension — where overseas supporters have formed solidarity networks — complements these domestic efforts. Overseas Pakistanis often see themselves as ambassadors of democratic accountability, using protests abroad to keep global eyes focused on Pakistan’s political developments. This reflects a broader trend where diaspora communities engage in homeland politics by organizing rallies, press conferences, and public campaigns in host countries with larger Pakistani populations, aimed at highlighting issues they feel are being overlooked by international media or policymakers.

While Pakistani governmental authorities have largely characterized such protests as conspiratorial or politically charged, the persistence of both local and international PTI demonstrations illustrates the enduring political influence Imran Khan continues to wield — even from behind bars — and the deep polarization in Pakistan’s political environment. Whether these protests will result in meaningful legal outcomes, such as bail for Khan or reform of the broader judicial approach to PTI cases, remains uncertain, but the transnational nature of PTI activism indicates that the party’s support base extends far beyond Pakistan’s borders and continues to mobilize in defense of its leadership’s legal rights…..

Over the past several years, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s detention and legal struggles have not only galvanized political activism inside Pakistan but have also sparked significant protest movements … Read More

[8,5,3

post-56446","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-articles","category-business","category-latest-news","entry
["GET
