In line with the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) requirement to strengthen academia\u2013industry linkages, this objective was successfully achieved through a two-day corporate training programme delivered by Dr. Ume Amen, Assistant Professor and Head of the Management Department at the Institute of Business and Health Management (IBHM), Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS).
\nThe programme was conducted with the valued support and facilitation of the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, and Director IBHM, Dr. Asima Faisal, for the Quality Assurance (QA) Department of Artistic Milliners, in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Quality Control (PIQC). The training sessions were held on 10th and 17th January 2026.
\nThe programme focused on Leadership, Management, and Team Development, specifically tailored to address the operational realities and challenges of a QA environment.
\nParticipants were enabled to:<\/p>\n

\n-Apply practical leadership styles to shop-floor quality challenges
\n-Effectively manage QA teams, processes, and performance
\n-Communicate quality standards clearly across departments
\n-Understand the characteristics of effective teams

\n-Recognize individual differences and functional roles within teams
\n-Build and sustain high-performing QA teams
\n-Manage conflict, resistance, and performance pressure in production settings
\n-Translate learning into actionable workplace improvement initiatives
\nThe training methodology was highly interactive, incorporating case studies, team-building exercises, leadership simulations, decision-making activities, and reflective discussions. Carefully curated video insights by Simon Sinek further enhanced participants\u2019 understanding of authentic, purpose-driven leadership.
\nOne of the most impactful takeaways for participants was the development of empathy as a core leadership competency, highlighting its critical role in effective people management, team cohesion, and fostering a strong quality culture.
\nThis capacity-building initiative strongly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting lifelong learning, leadership excellence, and professional development within the industrial workforce.
