Mr. Yasin Joyia, Honorary Concul General Of Sri Lanka for Punjab and President, Eye Donationa Welfare Society, has particicpated in the Marritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-8) organized by the Maritime Centre of Excellence at the Naval War College, LThe workshop served as a comprehensive forum for deliberations on maritime security, regional cooperation, strategic awareness, and the blue economy.<\/p>\n

As part of the MARSEW-8 program, a 38-member delegation, comprising honourable parliamentarians, diplomats, and representatives from the government, business, and media sectors, visited the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Head Office on 8 December 2025 for an awareness briefing. The delegation was led by Commandant Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmie, SI (M).

\nDuring the visit, Commandant Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmie, SI (M), paid a courtesy call on Chairman KPT, Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, SI (M), S.Bt (Retd), and conveyed his congratulations on the Chairman\u2019s recent appointment. An interactive briefing session followed, during which delegates were apprised of KPT\u2019s port infrastructure, ongoing and planned development projects, and strategic initiatives, with particular emphasis on the role of the blue economy in advancing national economic growth.

\n MARSEW-8 participants undertook a series of field visits, including PNS Mehran, an aerial visit to the Creeks Area of Responsibility (AOR) near the Indian border aboard Pakistan Navy Sea King helicopters, and arrival at PNS Qasim. The delegation received detailed briefings on Pakistan Navy operations and prevailing maritime security dynamics, and expressed appreciation to Rear Admiral Faisal Shah for an insightful discussion and comprehensive operational briefing.<\/p>\n

A dedicated field visit to the Creeks AOR was conducted on 7 December 2025, during which participants were briefed on the Sir Creek issue, prevailing threats, and the roles and responsibilities of the Pakistan Marines, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. The visit also included a sea sortie aboard hovercraft and watercraft, allowing participants to witness practical operational demonstrations.<\/p>\n

The delegation subsequently arrived in Gwadar for further meetings and presentations by the Pakistan Navy, coordinated by the Maritime Centre of Excellence, Naval War College Lahore. MARSEW-8 participants also held productive interactions with KPT management on matters relating to maritime affairs and the blue economy.Participants expressed their appreciation to the Pakistan Navy and the Maritime Centre of Excellence for the well-organized and comprehensive program, describing MARSEW-8 as a valuable and enriching professional experience.<\/p>\n
