WITH THE EFFORTS OF SECRETARY PRIMARY AND SECONDARY HEALTHCARE DEPARTMENT, RECORD SUCCESS IS ACHIEVED IN CORONA PREVENTION VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

*Lahore, October 13,2021:* With the special efforts of Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Imran Sikandar Baloch , the province-wide vaccination campaign is successfully moving towards its goals. Special SOPs have been issued for various sectors in view of the growing situation in Corona across the province. A new record of vaccination across Punjab, a record number of vaccinations are being carried out on a daily basis. It is imperative that all people over the age of 12 should be vaccinated immediately. There are currently a total of 636 vaccination centers in operation. Vaccination campaign is successfully underway at all vaccination centers across the province.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 521,015 people across Punjab have been vaccinated against the corona virus, bringing the total number of vaccines administered across the province to 53,395,979 so far, including 34,144 vaccines in the last 24 hours in the provincial capital Lahore. A total of 6,611,800 have been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

During the last 24 hours 278 new cases were reported from across the province. So far, the total number of cases has reached 436,734 Besides, 411,161 patients have fully recovered in the whole province, bringing the total number of active cases to 12,776 till date . In recent 24 hours, 4 death are recorded in Lahore whereas 8 deaths have been reported in Punjab, while 12,797 total number of deaths has reached. During the last 24 hours, 17,090 tests are conducted making a total of 7,611, 025 tests.

During last 24 hours, 154 positive Covid-19 cases have been reported in Lahore, 24 in Rawalpindi, 20 in Faisalabad, 16 in Multan and Sargodha, 7 in Gujrat and Gujranwala, 5 in Rahim Yar Khan, whereas respectively 3 cases are reported in Kasur and Sheikhupura.

Yesterday, the overall positive rate of Covid-19 was recorded at 1.6 per cent in all the cities of the province, while Lahore recorded a positive rate of 3.5 percent,1.8 percent in Rawalpindi, 1.8 percent in Faisalabad, 1.3 percent in Multan and 0.2 percent in Gujranwala.

While Talking about ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department said that, “Frequently increase corona case in Punjab is a matter of concern. In such epidemic conditions, vaccination is the only and effective treatment against corona.” He further added, “It is Pleasant that a large number of citizens are increasingly participating in the vaccination campaign – there is no shortage of vaccinations anywhere in the province. There is ample stock of vaccines at all centers while the future more vaccines have been ordered to meet the needs. “Citizens are urged to immediately vaccinate all people over the age of 12 and ensure implementation of SOPs so that we can return to normal life.”

Secretary Health Imran Sikandar Baloch reviewed the current situation of Dengue in the whole province.

Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare department Imran Sikandar Baloch directed the Department to intensify the dengue prevention activities across the Punjab. In this regard, he appealed to take special care of cleanliness and no garbage should be thrown in open places and Monsoon rains season have also started. Precautionary measures against Dengue are very important. Citizens should be more responsible in preventing Dengue during monsoon; especially rainwater should not accumulate in residential areas.

During the last 24 hours, 325 confirmed cases of dengue were reported across the province out of which 229 confirmed cases were reported in Lahore, 56 patients were reported from Rawalpindi, 6 from Multan, 5 from Hafizabad, 4 from Attock and Gujrat, 3 from Nankana Sahib, whereas respectively 2 cases are reported from Chakwal, Jhang, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha and Sheikhupura. So far this year, due to Dengue fever 12 Deaths have been reported from all over Punjab. Similarly, 4,876 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from across the province while 3,666 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from Lahore.

During last 24 hours 449,187 indoor locations were checked across the Punjab while 96,383 outdoor locations were checked, while larvae were destroyed from 2,376 locations. In Lahore 63,689 indoor places were checked for dengue larvae 8,619 outdoor locations were checked and 1,416 positive containers were destroyed.

In this regard, Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said that precautionary measures against dengue should also be taken besides of taking precautionary measures against Corona epidemic. He appealed to all the religious scholars of Punjab to inform the worshipers coming to the mosques about the prevention of dengue further said do not allow the storage of water at indoor and outdoor places; as hygiene can prevent dengue mosquito breeding. Be a responsible citizen by keep your surroundings neat and clean. He further said that the public is requested to extend full cooperation to the health department teams if they come to your home or business centers for the checking of dengue larvae, as dengue can be very fatal and is a very dangerous fever which can cause death.
